Guide for Homekill and Recreational Catch
A comprehensive guide to the Animal Products Act 1999 which replaced the Meat Act 1981. This Act aims to allow New Zealand’s genuine homekill and recreational hunting and fishing to continue while protecting the integrity of the regulated meat system and its assurances about product quality. Prohibitions on trade in homekill or recreational catch product for human or animal consumption are clearly detailed.

The Royal New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RNZSPCA) is a voluntary organisation with 50 local branches. The SPCA gives sanctuary to animals in distress, takes prosecutions over cruelty and neglect and promotes responsible pet ownership.
National Office represents the Society on government committees considering animal welfare legislation. It also provides public education, inspector training, and takes major prosecutions with national implications.

Plant Variety Rights Office
The Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) includes the Plant Variety Rights Office, which manages the granting of plant variety rights. These give exclusive rights of commercialisation over eligible new plant varieties for a prescribed number of years. The office also provides policy advice on meeting the intellectual property rights and needs of plant breeders.
